legal, but readable
terms.

1 · the deal
These terms cover the site-shortner website, API, CLI, and redirect service at site-shortner.link. Using any of them means you've accepted them. We've kept the language human; human language is still binding.
2 · keys & fair use
Keys are issued per person or team and are yours to protect — anything done with your key is on your account. Automated use is the whole point, so script away, within the published rate limits. Reselling raw access to the service itself isn't allowed; building your product on top of it very much is.
3 · acceptable use
You may not point a site-shortner link at, or use the service to distribute:
- malware, exploits, or phishing / credential-capture pages;
- content that's illegal where it's hosted or where we operate;
- destinations that impersonate another person, brand, or service;
- fraud, including destinations swapped post-click to bait-and-switch the people who trusted the link.
We disable violating links on review and terminate keys behind deliberate abuse, without refund. A redirect service's only asset is that its links are safe to click; we defend that asset first and apologize to abusers never.
4 · the redirect disclaimer
Destinations are configured by key-holders, not by us. Forwarding a request is plumbing, not endorsement: we don't review destination content and aren't responsible for it. The visitor's address bar shows the true destination on arrival. Anything that smells like a section-3 violation goes to abuse@site-shortner.link and gets human eyes.
5 · availability
We run the service to be dependable — fast answers, redundant edges, careful deploys — but self-serve plans carry no formal uptime guarantee, and maintenance or upstream failures can briefly interrupt. Our standing goal is that you learn about incidents from the changelog rather than from your users.
6 · when a plan ends
Cancel anytime, effective at period end. Afterward your links keep resolving to a neutral notice page for 30 days — a grace window so anything already shipped degrades politely — then the slugs release. Deleting your account erases your data per the privacy page.
7 · your stuff
Your destinations, slugs, and exported stats are yours. You grant us only the operational license needed to store your settings and answer requests on your behalf. We claim nothing else, and we don't mine your link graph for anything.
8 · liability
The service is provided as-is to the maximum extent the law allows, and our total liability is capped at what you've paid us in the preceding twelve months. No indirect or consequential damages. The un-waivable practical advice: keep a record of your slugs and destinations — shortner ls pipes to a file in one line.
9 · changes
Material changes to these terms get a new date above and advance notice to key-holders by email. Continuing to use the service after the effective date is acceptance.
